WSB (750 kHz), Atlanta's commercial AM station, is also known as WSB. It is the flagship station for the Cox Media Group, which is also responsible for the local NBC and ABC television networks. WSB's list gimmicks include a wacky nickname and a slew TV-related accolades. WSB, which is located in Atlanta, is the 2nd-oldest television station south of Washington, D.C. WSB-TV first aired on Channel 8 in September 1948. When Cox bought WSB, in 1980 the station was moved to Channel 2 where it was joined by WXIA TV.
